    • Ann, Thank you SO much. I was able to find the Battismo di Emilia PACILEO, my bis-bisnona on http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/v/Archivio+di+Stato+di+Napoli/ through the lovely people at http://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum. Several people responded to my queries & sent me links to her marriage to Ferdinando GRASSI, & a list of record of (I think) his Birth. I tried to translate these both on line & with my (poor) computer translator. But I trust yours more. Now I can tell what was written!
I have 2 questions about these pages: Would you know why their Civil record of Marriage & his Birth are written on the side margin of the page, rather than within typed data on the page? & on some have several, up to 6 signatures below the writings?

  1. Thank you for the Birth Certificate translation of the non written areas. I have a Birth Certificate from 1848 for Chiara Comignani that I posted on the italiangenealogy.com/forum requesting translation for same under GeneTree. My copy has two columns one for Atto Di Nascita and the other for Indicazione with a margin note of her marriage. Do you have a similar translation of the Indicazione column?

    • There was no standard for margin notes. The note would include a description of whatever happened, i.e. marriage, recognition of an abandoned child, death, even divorce. It would include the date of the act, and the date it was recorded. They are all different.
